For that extra quaint farmhouse feel, opt for country furniture. In the living room, slipcovered furniture lends itself to a relaxed look. Position a sofa and armchair around a large ottoman or coffee table, then dress the seating with decorative pillows in beige, brown, white or grey. For a slightly bolder look that still adheres to the rustic aesthetic, choose blue or green ones instead. Be sure to have throw blankets handy, whether draped over the couch or folded neatly in a basket nearby. Take the look up a notch with soft lighting, too. Put two end tables on either side of the sofa, then place a lamp on each for a warm touch. Keep the theme going in the kitchen and dining room, too. A wooden dining table adds effortless character. If space is limited, pop a round table in the kitchen by an open window instead, and enjoy breakfast with the morning breeze.
